Somaliland and the United States are two countries that believe democracy can prevail in Africa and for once and for all Africa will not depend on Western Aid. But here is the catch, while United States is world's ultimate super-power, Somaliland is not internationally recognized and needs each and everyone's support that believes in these good norms that Africa can succeed through democracy, peace, good-governance, respect to law, humanity and human dignity. The video im posting today is following recent events that took between the United States of America and Somaliland (not Somalia, not Black Hawk Down).
The US is really committed to democracy in Africa and the proposed US Africa command or AFRICOM is materializing. Somaliland has the perfect and most strategic port for the US military to operate in keeping Africa in good hands, away from the extremist like Al Qaeda, and the ever growing Chinese communist regime thats taking advantage of hungry African dictators.
Its important that the US stands by Africa in this difficult times. Its important that the US engages with the issue of Somaliland and its brought on the African Union parliament. It is important that the United States supports democratic states like Somaliland before Africa as a whole fails like Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq, North Korea, Burma, etc.
The only way forward is democracy, and education.
I advice everyone to Google Somaliland if you have never heard of it because its not hard to hear states doing well in Africa, media only brings you failed and hungry states like Somalia, etc.

The Republic of Somaliland considers itself to be the successor state of the former British Somaliland protectorate, which had an area of about 137,600 km² (53,128 sq mi), which became independent on June 26, 1960 and united with Italian Somaliland five days later to form the Somali Republic.

|
Somaliland (Somali: Soomaaliland) is a de facto independent republic located in the Horn of Africa. The Republic of Somaliland considers itself to be the successor state of the former British Somaliland protectorate, which had an area of about 137,600 km² (53,128 sq mi), which became independent on June 26, 1960.
Somaliland finally made the transition to multi-party democracy, with district council elections contested by three parties, considered the most peaceful in Africa for twenty years.
Somaliland has the Presidential system of government which consisted of an Executive, with a President, Vice President, and Council of Ministers, a bicameral Legislature, and an independent judiciary. Laws are created by the Upper and Lower House. The legislative assembly is composed of two chambers - an elected elder's chamber, and a house of representatives.
The country has three political parties. i.e UDUB Party, Kulmiye Party and UCID party . However recently a FOURTH party was created, Qaran (the national), however it was considered to be illegal, but there is no constitution proving such; the case is still been investigated. The leaders of Qaran party were imprisoned, an action considered by the international community and many somalilanders as illegal. They are FREE now, and thats because Somaliland is a flexible nation that will listen to its citizens and the international community. |
