The Trial and Death of Socrates
|
A depiction of the last days of Socrates - an event which marks the historical emergence of philosophy.
Socrates is an individual who claims that the source of moral integrity cannot be said to reside in the traditional customs, practices and forms of life of the community. Rather, he demands that the source of moral legitimacy must lie in the appeal to universality. It must have a universal form: what is justice? The philosopher does not ask 'what is justice for the Athenians?' or `What is justice for the Spartans?', but rather focuses on justice in general, seeking its underlying validity. By doing so, Socrates establishes the lines of transmission that lead from individuality to universality, from the intellect to the forms - a route which by-passes the particular, the communal, the traditional, as well as conventional views of ethical and political life.
Socrates' death in the name of this ideal marks the historical emergence of philosophy, since out of the dying Socrates emerges the condition of possibility for de-traditionalization. It announces the imperative that continues to drive philosophy, critique, which consists in the refusal to recognize the legitimacy of tradition without that tradition having first submitted itself to critical methodological interrogation. |

La sabiduría de Sócrates no consiste en la simple acumulación de conocimientos, sino el poder afirmar,con plena conciencia, "sólo sé que no sé nada". Esto lo hace una de las figuras más extraordinarias y decisivas de toda la historia, representa la reacción contra el relativismo y subjetivismo sofísticos, siendo un singular ejemplo de unidad entre teoría y conducta, entre pensamiento y acción. Fue a la vez capaz de llevar tal unidad al plano del conocimiento, al sostener que la virtud es conocimiento y el vicio ignorancia.
El poder de su oratoria y la facultad de expresarse públicamente eran su fuerte para así poder conseguir la atención de las personas. |

Asking his father who is imprisoned in jail for money, threatening a friend who became a murderer by mistake, stealing money from his friends...KU Dong-hyuk (KIM Rae-won) is the worst scumbag you can ever imagine. Living a low-life existence like a street dog, one day, Dong-hyuk gets kidnapped by a mysterious gang. Held captive for no reason, Dong-huk is repeatedly trained by the gang in a secret and inhumane way. Dong-hyuk tries to escape but fails, which makes the training more harsh and cruel than before. After finishing all the training, the gang orders Dong-hyuk to become a police detective as their secret connection. |
