Limited Mobility Guitar Playing II - Rickenbacker 360V64-12
|
Techniques for playing with handicaps, fretboard explained, tricks and tips learned the hard way. Rickenbacker 12-string, Hamer, and Gibson ES-335 used. This particular Rickenbacker is a Rickenbacker 360-V64-12 (a copy of the 1st prototype Rickenbacker 12 presented George Harrison by the Rickenbacker Corporation). Although a beautiful instrument, it is somewhat diifficult to play due to very low frets and a narrow fingerboard (George Harrison commented on this as well) so I would not recommend it as a first choice for LMGP. The Tom Petty designed Rickenbacker model has a wider board and is widely touted as vastly easier to play -- I'd go with that as a first choice. That said, this 1999 Rickenbacker is certainly eye candy and can boom out some great sounding tunes if you're careful on the frets. The Headmaster Ritual appears as the opening track on the 1985 album MEAT IS MURDER by The Smiths. No idea if I'm playing it right, but I know it's in open D. It loses a lot without the excellent bass part though. Also Marr played a 360 with stereo output, whereas this is a 330 (as played on This Charming Man).
