It is the eid (Sham El Nesem - or Spring Feast) and an Egyptian family is sitting down to have a festive meal. Everyone is asking and inquiring: will he come? Are you going to allow him to come? What are you going to do? Will he bring his guy friend with him? Disapproval and sorrow are manifest on everyone's face. Meanwhile, in front of a mirror, where we hear a voice-over of a young man, talking about wanting to go home for the last time. His mother allowed him to come home. His sisters and his brothers are reluctant. He goes in and there is awkwardness in the air. When they sit down to the meal, he has plastic, disposable utensils while everyone else has china plates. To leave a positive message in the end, according to the advice of Dr. Ehab, the project consultant, we added a shot where one of the cousins is sharing his plate with him. |
