| The Lost Tribe - 10 Mar 08 - Pt. 2
|
The Hmong hill tribe in Laos was recruited in 1961 by the CIA, to fight a "Secret War" against the Communists of North Vietnam. Their job was to try to block the Vietcong's supply route.
Known as the "Ho Chi Minh trail", it ran through Laos, along the border with Vietnam. More than 40,000 Hmong were killed in the fighting that followed.
When the US fled Saigon in 1975, Communists also seized control of Laos.
The Hmong, abandoned by the US, allegedly became the target of retaliation and persecution.
This marked the beginning of the mass exodus of Hmong refugees into Thailand, which eventually swelled to more than 300,000.
Some of them were eventually resettled in the US, but many continue to languish in Thai detention camps. And at least 7,000 Hmong are still hiding in the mountains and jungles of Laos, including some former CIA fighters.
Under constant threat of attack by the army -- they are a lost tribe -- forgotten by the world for more than three decades.
Our correspondent Tony Birtley trekked for two days from the town of Phon Savan to reach their jungle hideout -- the first television journalist ever to do so. |

| 'Allo 'Allo! Season 5 Ep 13 - The Bank Job (PART 2)
|
First aired: 11/26/1988
The Communist Resistance still has Rene and Mimi, as well as Von Strohm, Gruber, Leclerc, and the Italian army. Rene convinces the Communists that they could hold the Germans for ransom, and they let Rene and Leclerc go to act as go-betweens. Michelle suggests bombing the entire sawmill to wipe out the Germans, Italians, and Communists in one blow, but once that plan has been set in motion, they can't stop it in time to save Mimi (still in the sawmill disguised as a baby).
Unfortunately, Von Klinkerhoffen refuses to pay the 1,000,000 franc ransom, so Michelle suggests raising the ransom by robbing the vault in the local bank - after all, they have the services of the "greatest safecracker in all France." Naturally, the plan is trickier than they thought, when they get trapped inside the locked safe and need to burn some of the money to light the fuse on the explosive to get themselves out.

This is the only way to build and transform the destroyed Albania from the communists who still run Albania and destroy its life and people. Now Albanians must unite in these big investments in Riviera before the communists and outsiders steal all of it for themselves.
1 million Albanians inside and outside Albania must gather and invest 3000 euro each to have for life an apartment in these giant resorts that will be build in riviera.
They can use it for 1 week per year or rent it to others. Even outside investors and tourists can do the samething but for using the apartments for 10-20 years only. If 1 million investors contribute with the small amount of 3000 euro than there will be collected 3 billion euro, which is enough money to build many giant buildings and resorts in the beautiful riviera. For this transformation and rebirth of Albania, must help now (not steal)the present government and medias of Albania, with many advertising and shows where people will connect live and contribute in these big investments before the excommunists(which escaped the punishment for the destraction of Albania)and outsiders take over the whole riviera, the Albanian Paradise, for their own interests and business. There is no time left. 2008 must be the year of the great revelation in the Albanian History. Albanians can't be anymore the poorest, the dirtiest and the most corrupted country and wilde society in Europe and in the World. Albanians must save themselves and change their country and future.

| Communist Comeback - Russia
|
May 1996
This bleak wasteland of icy snow tinged with grey coal dust is Vorkuta, Northern Siberia, Russia. In the 1940s Stalin sent political prisoners here to build coal mines. One survivor described it as "hell on earth". Yet in Vorkuta, the communists are making a comeback. Officials hand out cards from Communist leader, Zyganov thanking his doughty supporters. Their smiling faces brim with new found confidence. Five years ago the miners of Vorkuta led a national strike in support of Boris Yeltsin. Today they turn to the communists because they despise Yeltsin even more than their old taskmasters. 250 metres below ground, in dark, cramped conditions, miners risk their lives, but don't get paid. Yeltsin's market economy has failed them. At Yeltsin's former HQ, a group of miners are on a hunger strike. All injured in mine accidents, they have waited months to receive their pensions. They scoff at pictures of Yeltsin on the TV. A local communist blandly promises to restore coal subsidies. He says Yeltsin's failures have turned Vorkuta into a Gulag once more |

| WW II : RARE COLOR FILM : D-DAY : JUNE 5TH 1944
|
http://protectacow.typepad.com/prabhupada/
731212mw.la Conversations
Prabhupada: ...two classes of men: the communist and the non-communist. Not exactly communist and capitalist, but communist and non-communist. Out of these two, the communists are going to be powerful. This is the world tendency. So if the world becomes full of communists, then the human civilization will be finished. All rogues and rascals, that's all. The American government wants to check this tendency. But they cannot check it if they remain "so-called trust in God." That will not be possible. So according to our proposition... Not only now, it is forever. Two classes of men are there: sura and asura. Surasura. Visnu-bhakto bhaved devah. Deva and sura, the same thing. Asuras tad viparyayah. And the asura, or the demons, godless. So if the Americans remain godless in the name of so-called trust in God, they will not be able to check this communistic movement. They will not be able. Now, if they are serious to check this communistic movement, save the American country as well as the whole world, then they must be very serious to understand what is God and what is trust in God. Otherwise this communistic movement will finish the civilized human society. So you are thoughtful. They must be very serious about it. And this is the only movement, Krsna consciousness, which can make all people actually trust in God and explain what is meant by God. Demons, they... If the communists are demons and the capitalists are also demons, fighting between demons, there will be war and loss of life, but nobody will come out victorious. That is going on. There is occasional world war, but the situation of the world remains the same. No party has become able to change the situation of the world. |

| Cambodia: SIHANOUK A PEACE MAKER (2of3) [EN]
|
WHILE Imperialist Vietcong and Vietminh use Cambodia as their second home to attack Imperialist American, they both draw in Cambodian to die for their colonist wars. Sihanouk did his best to stop his people from being brainwashed by the two muderouse Imperialists but it seem there were too many Yuon in the country who incited bitterly hatred of Khmer and Khmer. There were too many Vietcong roaming like fire out of control.
The North Vietnamese pledged their aim was to restore Sihanouk, and gullible Cambodian peasants and townpeoples foolishly believed them.
Hanoi's ultimate objective though was the total subjugation of all Indochina-Cambodia, Kampuchea Krom and Laos. For centuries Vietnam had sought the abundant granary that is the Cambodian heartland, having earlier pilfered the Mekong Delta from the Khmers. Vietnam is long and thin country with limited arable land and a large population and her cropland is often subject to nature's whim. But Vietnam's ambition to control Phnom Penh had to be unobtrusive and so Hanoi covertly sought domination of the Cambodian Communist Movement from the inside and the eventual placing in power in Phnom Penh of these puppet Khmer Communists. That was why North Vietnam had filtered the 4000 Khmer Communists to Hanoi after the 1954 Geneva Conference: to train and brainwash them, and release them into Cambodia en masse to take charge of the Cambodian Communist Movement when the time seemed ripe. That time looked to be from 1970 until now. |

| Too Simple, Sometimes Naive
|
Former Chinese President Jiang ZeMin (江泽民) scolding Hong Kong journalists when they asked him a question he didn't like. The whole thing happened during a live broadcast.
The phase he used, "too simple, sometimes naive", became an instant hit on internet.
I believe this video revealed a human side of Jiang that's rarely shown on China's state controlled media. It showed he's not the glorious, always right demigod the party mouthpiece made out to be, but he's also not the evil Doctor who lives in a fallout bunker in Beijing with a black cat on his lap, as the western media often implies. He's just a normal person with flawed characters, just like an average grandpa on streets.
Because top officials are sheltered from public scrutiny in China, he's sorely unprepared to deal with an independent press. Note only he lacked the practice, he also doesn't have the usual slick image and eloquence you often find in western politicians.
He's unpolished and unsophisticated enough to be easily rattled by a mildly challenging question; He's also vain enough to pull out his "Mike Wallace" experience in a desperate attempt to salvage his image after he already lost his temper.
He's also a bit arrogant, but for good reason. After all, he was the President of China at that time. He can be forgiven for speaking with a chip on shoulder.
For all his flaws, he's a seasoned politician, a competent one actually. Even during his emotional outburst, he held the ground on principle matters. He stated according to the Basic Law, HK SAR is but a special administrative region of China and the Central Government has the final authority on deciding the governorship. He went to say until the next governor is decided, he, as the head of the Central Government, has to support the head of the local government.
Basically, he was smart to notice the press was asking him a trick question, and he didn't like to be made a fool. |

| He May Be a Communist
|
***NOTE: This film is an outdated piece of government propaganda. It is presented here for historical interest. It is not necessary to decry or "expose" this video in the comments as being a piece of propaganda, as this is openly acknowledged by most people.***
In this set of clips, Americans are shown how to spot Communists. For example: "If a person consistently reads and advocates the views expressed in a Communist publication, he may be a Communist. If a person defends the activities of Communist nations while consistently attacking the domestic and foreign policies of the United States, she may be a Communist.[...] If a person does all these things, over a period of time, he MUST be a Communist!" The video also goes on to demonstrate the evils of Communists stealing your daughter away to work on a collective farm. |

| Vietnam War
|
For AR
The , also known as the Second Indochina War and the American War, was a war from 1959 to 1975 in Vietnam. It was fought between North Vietnam (the Democratic Republic of Vietnam) and South Vietnam (the Republic of Vietnam). North Vietnam was supported by the USSR and China, while South Vietnam was supported by the United States with its allies South Korea, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines. This conflict between communists and pro-American countries made it part of the Cold War.
Background and causes
Before and after World War II, France had controlled the Vietnam region. The was a product of the conflict between France and the Vietnamese and their leader Hồ Chí Minh. The First Indochina War started in 1946 when the French tried to re-take control of the country. Followers of Hồ Chí Minh fought against the French. In July 1954, after one hundred years of colonial rule, a defeated France was forced to leave Vietnam. In the summer of 1954, the French and the Vietnamese signed the Geneva Peace Accord. After the peace treaty was signed, the country was split into two separate countries: North Vietnam and South Vietnam.
The United States backed the anti-communist government in South Vietnam. It began to send military advisers to help train and support the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. The South was fighting a slowly rising insurgency from the North, the National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam (NLF), which would be labeled the "Việt Cộng" in Ngô Đình Diệm's Denounce the Communists Campaign. The Americans would continue to call the NLF by this propaganda term.
North Vietnam wanted to get rid of South Vietnam's government and make the whole country communist.
Escalation
In 1964, United States naval ships reported being attacked by North Vietnam. Reports later suggested that the attack did not happen. However, the United States passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution and began to bomb North Vietnam. In 1965, the first United States combat troops entered Vietnam and there would be half a million of them in just three years.
Nearly all of the land battles were fought throughout South Vietnam. There were thousands of North Vietnamese Army (NVA) troops that infiltrated western and northern parts of South Vietnam. There were also thousands of people in South Vietnam, known to the Americans as 'Viet Cong' or "VC"s, who sided with North Vietnam and fought for them. Because of this it was often hard for American and South Vietnamese troops to tell friendly civilians from dangerous ones. A tragic example of this mistrust was the My Lai Massacre in March 1968, in which U.S. Army troops killed hundreds of people in a South Vietnamese village. The large number of NLF fighters throughout the country meant that American bases were often attacked.
VPA and NLF people were supplied by a vast network of hidden trails, known as the Ho Chi Minh Trail. North Vietnam soon moved these trails into Laos and Cambodia, where American planes and troops were not allowed to be. America battled the Ho Chi Minh Trail there anyway, in what is known as the Secret War, and flew planes deep into North Vietnam to try to damage the trail and ruin North Vietnamese factories and bases.
In 1968, the Tet Offensive, the My Lai Massacre, the draft, and the increasing death count among U.S. forces began to make many Americans oppose the war. Richard Nixon became the new US President in 1969, and he hoped to solve this problem and began a "Vietnamization" of the war. This was a new policy that made South Vietnam responsible for fighting the war, rather than the United States. It equipped South Vietnam with the weapons they needed to fight. Starting in 1969, American troops were brought into Vietnam in smaller and smaller numbers, and 95% of the American troops were gone by 1972.
By 1972, world leaders tried to make South Vietnam and North Vietnam agree to peace at the Paris Peace Accords, but the countries disagreed and North Vietnam quit the talks. The United States launched a heavy bombing campaign on Hanoi in December 1972 to get North Vietnam to continue, which worked and led to an agreement in 1973. Both sides quickly broke the agreement and started fighting again.
End of U.S involvement and end of the war
By 1973, United States soldiers were no longer in Vietnam and there was a lot of pressure on President Nixon to end American involvement completely. As a result, America sent less and less money and weaponry to South Vietnam. South Vietnam continued to fight by itself. North Vietnam made a massive military attack in 1974 on South Vietnam. North Vietnam won nearly all of the battles and in one year it took over most of South Vietnam. This ended with the Fall/Liberation of Saigon on May 1, 1975. North and South Vietnam became a single country again on July 2, 1976, and this is now called the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
