| Silly Love Song -PAul McCartney(ABBA)
|
Silly Love Song(Ft.ABBA)-Paul McCartney
McCartney had been often teased by music critics for writing lightweight songs, and McCartney wrote this number in response. In addition, "Silly Love Songs" was McCartney's first foray into the then-popular disco sound, with his bass guitar taking a lead role against a steady disco-style drumbeat. As such it was the forerunner for other 1960s-era British musicians trying their hand at disco; examples that followed included The Rolling Stones' "Miss You" and Rod Stewart's "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?".
The song was included on the album Wings at the Speed of Sound as well as being released as a single, where it reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the UK singles chart. It became not only one of the Wings' best-selling singles, but one of the best-selling singles of the 1970s.

Lyrics
You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs.
But I look around me and I see it isn't so.
Some people wanna fill the world with silly love songs.
And what's wrong with that?
I'd like to know, 'cause here I go again
I love you, I love you,
I love you, I love you,
I can't explain the feeling's plain to me, say can't you see?
Ah, she gave me more, she gave it all to me
Now can't you see,
What's wrong with that
I need to know, 'cause here I go again
I love you, I love you
Love doesn't come in a minute,
sometimes it doesn't come at all
I only know that when I'm in it
It isn't silly, no, it isn't silly, love isn't silly at all.
How can I tell you about my loved one?
How can I tell you about my loved one?
How can I tell you about my loved one?
(I love you)
How can I tell you about my loved one?
(I love you) |

This was launched as part of the build up towards White Ribbon Day, 25 November. It is the international day when people wear a white ribbon to show they don't tolerate or condone men's violence towards women.
White Ribbon Day was started by a men's movement in Canada in 1991 and has been officially adopted by the United Nations as its International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. It was introduced to New Zealand by UNIFEM (United Nations Development Fund for Women) and now many activities are run around the country to promote the day.
The VCD is a project by Te Kupenga Whakaoti Mahi Patunga National Network of Stopping Violence Services. It is a network of 33 community organisations who work together to prevent violence and abuse in families in Aotearoa New Zealand.
