5/26/2008: Anonymous Sends John Carmichael Off the Deep End!

Looks like someone needs to get their overts checked!
Rev. John Carmichael, the head of the Church of Scientology in New York City, made an appearance at a "Free Stress Test" table to try to prevent Anonymous from informing the public about the dubious nature behind the test itself and bigotry within the book they are attempting to sell, "Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health" by L. Ron Hubbard, by calling the cops on us.
After the entire debacle explodes in Carmichael's face with none of us being charged for a crime and his own organization slapped with a fine for not having a street vending permit to run the "stress test" tables in the first place, Carmichael slowly gets more and more crazy as nothing seems to be going his way.
All of this culminates in one of the most unexpected moments witnessed by New York City Anons as the greatest public relations figure for the Church of Scientology in the five boroughs is finally driven COMPLETELY FUCKING BONKERS!

Dear Scientology,
Once again we find ourselves in a stand off over your esoteric communion of distortion. In a world where borders once seperated us, we anonymous have taken advantage of the technological resources placed at our disposal to unite against your deceptive congregation.
There seems to be a huge misunderstanding over who and what we are. We have been labeled everything from a rebellious movement to cyber terrorists. What we are is a band of brothers and sisters of all races and creeds. We are all continents. We are asian and hispanic. We are black and we are white. We are men and we are women. We are your Doctors and your Lawyers, we are your bus drivers and your firemen. We prepare your meals, bag your groceries, and pick up your garbage.
We all stand united under the one same principle of being fed up. Fed up with your cancer, and the feeble populace who encourage it. As we watch Tom Cruise and David Miscavige stand behind a podium wearing medallions in all their financial glory, we think about the brave poor people who risk their lives everyday to protect their fortune. How could they have private property without the underpayed policemen and firemen to protect it for them and why is that not enough?.
On March 15th 2008, the world will witness a miracle of epic proportions. Fox News, Sky News, CNN and other media outlets around the globe, will see the unity of millions of individuals, working together toward the same goal. Something that has never been achieved in the 10,000 years of recent history. March 15th, will be more then a day of protest, it will be a miraculous achievement.

...Throughout our struggle, we maintain the following thesis: that the Church of Scientology was founded for purposes incompatible with a society holding dear a respect for human rights and the rule of law. These nefarious purposes can only be achieved through criminal enterprise, and remain objectives of the Church to this day. We further maintain that this criminal enterprise is operated by its leaders knowingly and willingly, and that the true extent and tone of the Church's activity is outrageous and sickening. These statements are not contrived, but based on conclusions derived from extensive study of Church history. Our sources include its own documents, the testimonies of its victims, the words of those who have escaped it and educational materials that the Church would keep secret for fear of exposure. We therefore consider the Church of Scientology a despicable criminal organization which, through the indoctrination of its members, predation upon those in need, the dissemination of lies regarding its nature, by way of sadistic retaliatory practices against its critics and through its cynical abuse of civil liberties has forfeit any right it had to exist.
On several occasions, figures within the media have casually dismissed Anonymous as nothing more than a gaggle of restless youth. We remain entirely undeterred by their remarks. Virtually all age groups, creeds and professions are represented within our ranks. Many who are not affiliated with Anonymous have expressed support for our campaign. Their words serve to further underscore the broad demographic base of our initiative. If you remain doubtful of our strength and resolve, we invite you to observe them for yourselves.
Actions speak louder than words. In the name of those who have been silenced by the criminal organization that is the Church of Scientology, Anonymous will be heard. Our cause is just. We shall prevail.

Advice for Anonymous
|
Hello Anonymous,
I have been watching your campaign against Scientology since its inception and have been impressed by your commitment and momentum in building a movement to confront this quiet evil that has for too long flown under the radar of the common man. I am inspired by your creativity and the speed and ease with which you have generated a distributed network of activists and contributors.
But while I stand behind you, I cannot stand with you. I am not Anonymous. I am known, and will be known. I have created this identity to help distinguish myself from your movement as I endeavour to provide a perspective from outside with an understanding from inside. Please do not misconstrue my concerns and criticism as attacks or attempts at subterfuge, as I only wish to remind Anonymous of its goals and the utility of its actions. You may consider me a super-ego, of sorts, if that is not too grandiose a title to bestow upon oneself.
Currently, there is much anticipation of the 10th of February and rightly so. Street protests are an excellent way of raising awareness of an issue and demonstrating the strength of public opinion. Guard yourselves, however, as so often the pretext of "raising awareness" is used to justify self-indulgent and ineffective protesting. How many Facebook groups dedicated to solving one hot button issue have used this same justification for their ineffectual existence? How many groups that you yourselves have mocked and raided? Remember this after February 10th. Raising awareness and adding to your ranks is important, but only if there is something that comes after for these new recruits to do.
Ensure that there are big plans for the period following February 10th. Letter-writing campaigns. Engagement with legislators. Set clear goals and objectives that will have a meaningful impact on the Church. This will allow Anonymous to stay on target and also stay motivated, as it is able to track its wins and progress toward wins. Develop catchy anti-scientology slogans to attract public attention. So far so many slogans have been about Anonymous. Joe Public does not care, nor does he need to, about Anonymous. He needs to care about Scientology. Cater for this in your materials.
Similarly, do not forget your pledge that Anonymous is attacking the institution of the so-called Church, of Scientology and not the followers of Scientology itself. Maybe an exception will be made in Mr Cruise' case, in light of his high profile, terrible films and role in the corruption of the Fresh Prince. But for the rank and file, remember that they, more than anyone else, are the victims of this organisation. Do not use the memory of Lisa McPherson, a Scientologist unto death, as a cudgel to intimidate or taunt these people. Read the links provided with this message to educate yourself on the nature of the "training" scientology recruits endure, and the frustration and inadequacy many feel as they "stall" and are forced to purchase more and more sessions. These are scared, lonely people, however aggressively they may act. Silence the critics of your movement. Show that you are not in this simply to justify a hormonal urge for rebellion and destruction by reaching out to these people. Care for them.
This may sound like a soft approach, but these vulnerable individuals are the foundation upon which the rotten tower stands. Crack that foundation and the fissures will run right to the top.
Valentine's day approaches. I recommend raids to distribute Valentine's cards to scientologists as they leave their centres. Naturally, you will sign the cards as Anonymous, in the tradition of the season. Also inscribe a message of comfort, or a link to a website that may help these people by letting them know that they are not alone, and that we are working to help them.
In the coming times, the challenges you face and the tasks you undertake my require you to be less than Anonymous. Do not decieve yourselves, and do not fear. While Scientology is indeed frivilously litigious, it is not your anonymity that protects you. It is your numbers. Just as your script kiddies overwhealm their web presence, so your activists will overwhealm their capacity to prosecute. Do not forget that other name you call yourself.
You are Legion. And that is your strength.

Contrary to the assumptions of the media, Anonymous is not simply "a group of super hackers". Anonymous is a collective of individuals united by an awareness that someone must do the right thing, that someone must bring light to the darkness, that someone must open the eyes of a public that has slumbered for far too long. Anonymous is everyone and everywhere. We have no leaders, no single entity directing us - only the collective outrage of individuals, guiding our hand in the current efforts to bring awareness.We want you to be aware of the very real dangers of Scientology. We want you to know about the gross human rights violations committed by this cult. We want you to know about Lisa McPhearson. We want you to know about former members of Scientology's private navy, SeaOrg, who were forced to have abortions so that they could continue in service to the church. We want you to know about Scientology's use of child labor and their gulags. We want you to know about Operation Freakout and Paulette Cooper. We want you to know about Operation Snow White and Scientology's efforts to infiltrate the government of the United States of America.We want you to know about all of these things that have been swept under the rug for far too long. The information is out there. It is yours for the taking. Arm yourself with knowledge. Be very wary of the 10th of February. Anonymous invites you to join us in an act of solidarity. Anonymous invites you to take up the banner of free speech, of human rights, of family and freedom. Join us in protest outside of Scientology centers world wide. We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. We will be heard. Expect us. |
