| David Ruffin 1975 - "Walk Away From Love" MOTOWN-163
|
David Ruffin recorded this on Motown label rather than the Soul label he was on, not that long after in the early 80's he died (mentioned in the brilliant film "The Temptations"-1998), a departure from my Classic 60's Motown for a change, and was a US Gold disc! What do you think? |

Stop! in the name of love
Before you break my heart
But this time before you run to her
leaving me alone and hurt
Think it over (havent I been good to you)
Think it over (havent I been sweet to you)
Stop! in the name of love
Before you break my heart
Stop! in the name of love
Before you break my heart
Think it over
Think it over
(Stop)
Oh yes, wait a minute Mister Postman
(Wait)
Wait Mister Postman
Please Mister Postman, look and see
(Oh yeah)
If there's a letter in your bag for me
(Please, Please Mister Postman)
Why's it takin' such a long time
(Oh yeah)
For me to hear from that boy of mine
(Mister Postman)
Mister Postman, look and see
(Oh yeah)
If there's a letter in your bag for me
(Please, Please Mister Postman)
Why's it takin' such a long time
(Oh yeah)
Since I heard from this boyfriend of mine
Sugar pie honey bunch
You know that I love you
I can't help myself
I love you and nobody else
Sugar pie honey bunch
I'm weaker than a man should be
I can't help myself
I'm a fool in love you see
Im coming out
Im coming out
I want the world to know
Got to let it show
Im coming out
I want the world to know
I got to let it show

Michael: abc, 123, baby, you and me girl!
Jackie: come on, let me love you just a little bit!
Jermaine: I'm a going to teach how to sing it out!
Michael: come on, come one, come on
Let me show you what it's all about!
I need love, love
to ease my mind
And I need to find time
Someone to call mine;
My mama said
You cant hurry love
No, youll just have to wait
She said love dont come easy
But its a game of give and take
You cant hurry love
No, youll just have to wait
Just trust in a good time
No matter how long.
Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to break me with goodbye
you think I'd crumble
you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
as long as i know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive
Just remember what I told you
The day I set you free
Ain't no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley low enough
Ain't no river wild enough
To keep me from you
Ain't no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley low enough
Ain't no river wild enough
To keep me from you
Ain't no mountain high enough
Nothing can keep me
keep me from you
Ive tried so hard, hard to be patient
Hoping youd stop this infatuation
But each time you are together
Im so afraid Ill be losing you forever
Stop! |

| Mary Wells - First Lady of Motown
|
Wells came to Motown with the intention of getting a song to Jackie Wilson, but Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr. had other ideas. Instead, Gordy brought her into the studio to record her composition, "Bye Bye Baby." In subsequent releases, songwriter William "Smokey" Robinson emphasized her sultry side. Wells was Motown's first star and toured with the Beatles. Although she left the company at age 21 to pursue a career at 20th Century Fox, Mary Wells never surpassed her output at Motown. She died in 1992. Featured song: "You Beat Me to the Punch" by William "Smokey" Robinson. |
