Rednecks build spider mech!

I have no idea who these guys are, but they managed to build an 8-legged, gas-powered spider mech in their spare time. Screw NASA and DARPA - turn them over to rednecks plus Burt Rutan and we'll have a Mars colony and Robotech in 10 years.

Rob Swift breaks down different techniques of scratching including crabs, flares, chirps and even how to do some basic turntable drumming. Not only does Rob Swift break down the different techniques, he also talks about who invented the techniques and when. Roc Raida covers backspinning, how to count bars, and execution of body tricks, among other things. He doesn't go into their history but he does a good job of illustrating how to do them. Total Eclipse takes the following section of the DVD and teaches beat juggling and then gets into how to put a routine together. The final section features all three of the X-Ecutioners scratching and beat juggling together.
The video quality, and more importantly the sound quality, is exceptional and the chapters are organized by each lesson. All three of the X-Ecutioners are brilliant DJ's and definitely do a good job of breaking down the techniques and illustrating them. I would highly recommend this movie to anybody who is developing their DJ talents and also to those that are refining them. All in all, X-Ecutioners Built to Scratch is an exceptional tutorial movie and a must have for any up and coming DJ. |

Built to Spill - Goin' Against your Mind

I wanted to use this song about 3 months ago, but it just never fit.
I had this idea in my mind with this character with his arms raised to the moon (although this looks like the Sun). I've used this idea before. The first time I used it I was struggling through a depressing time. To me, it meant something like a accept my mortality or fate. Maybe...I was studying Egyptian Art at the time and was very interested in the gods. I think that had some influence. |
